Operating your business during a pandemic means continually evaluating your current and future inventory needs, particularly for items you didn’t have to worry about pre-pandemic. Being as prepared as possible for our “new normal” will significantly increase your operation’s probability for success while also providing a safe environment for employees and customers. Some suggestions include:
- Conduct a full inventory of goods, specifically checking expiration dates;
- Pay attention to single-use alternatives for commonly used items such as condiment packets or sauce cups, glasses, plates, napkins, placemats and cutlery;
- Ensure adequate supplies of disposable PPE, like facemasks, gloves and spit guards, as well as hand sanitizer for both employees and customers; and
- Make sure you have enough paper and printer ink for single-use food and drink menu printing if you are handling in-house.
